The February council meeting will cover a range of important topics affecting our community:
1. Approval of Minutes
Confirmation of minutes from the January 15, 2026 ordinary council meeting.
2. Mayor's Report
Mayor Jacinta Price will present her report covering:
- Recent community engagement activities
- Regional development updates
- Upcoming events and initiatives
- Intergovernmental meetings and outcomes
3. Financial Reports
The Finance Department will present:
- January 2026 financial statements
- Budget vs. actual expenditure analysis
- Revenue collection update
- Major project expenditure tracking
4. Infrastructure Development Proposal
Council will consider a significant infrastructure proposal including:
- Todd Street Precinct Upgrade: Proposed $3.2 million upgrade of the main street precinct including new paving, street furniture, lighting, and landscaping
- Eastside Sports Complex: Expansion plans for the regional sports facility to include additional courts and amenities
- Stormwater Management: New drainage infrastructure for flood-prone areas in the northern suburbs
5. Community Services Update
Reports from community services division covering:
- Library services performance and new digital resources
- Youth program participation rates
- Community facility bookings and usage statistics
- Proposed new after-school care program
6. Environmental Sustainability Strategy
Discussion and potential adoption of the draft Environmental Sustainability Strategy 2026-2031, including:

Review and adoption of updated policies:
- Community Grants Policy (revised)

Public Participation
Great Victoria Desert Council encourages community members to attend council meetings and participate in local governance.
Public Gallery
The public gallery is open to all residents. No registration is required to observe the meeting. Seating is available for approximately 40 visitors on a first-come, first-served basis.
Public Question Time
Members of the public may ask questions during the designated question time, which typically occurs at 6:30 PM. To participate:
- Register to speak by completing a form at the entrance before 6:00 PM
- Questions must relate to items on the agenda or council business
- Each speaker is allocated 3 minutes
- Questions should be clear and concise
- The Mayor or relevant councillor will respond to questions
Making a Submission
For formal submissions on agenda items, written submissions must be lodged with the Council Governance team by 5:00 PM on Monday, February 10, 2026. Email submissions to: governance@astc.nt.gov.au
